Rare set of 8 "Marilyn" chairs by renowned Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. The curved design of the back of this chair was inspired by the body shape of Marilyn Monroe, hence the name. Strikingly curvaceous framework of black ebonized solid birch with black leather seats. Slatted back and routed detail along outside let. Surprisingly comfortable! The back design is extremely ergonomical and suited for extended periods of time. The Marilyn chair was created for use in the executive offices of a Japanese bank. Part of the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The chairs are in excellent vintage condition with minor wear expected from age and use. There are no cracks or repairs to the frame. Minor touch ups have been made to the black ebonized finish. No rips, tears or stains to the black leather seats.
