This rare pair of iconic Distex lounge chairs by Gio Ponti for Cassina, Italy circa 1950s, represent a pivotal moment in design history, encapsulating the radical postwar aesthetic that Ponti was instrumental in shaping. Model 807, designed in 1953 and first presented at the X Triennale in Milan in 1954, embodies the beautiful ergonomic design and dynamic sculptural lines characteristic of Ponti's groundbreaking approach.

Fully restored to their original splendor, these chairs are newly upholstered in a plush, durable 100% wool velvet fabric, chosen specifically to pay tribute to Ponti's penchant for iconic two-tone color combinations. The sophisticated muted blue-green of the seat and back interacts seamlessly with the off-white colored wool velvet of the arms, creating a harmonious and elegant contrast.

The attention to detail in the restoration is meticulous. The tight seat and back, along with new foam throughout, ensure that these chairs offer not just visual delight but also outstanding comfort. The solid beech legs, refinished in a dark stain, provide a strong foundation and complete the chairs' luxurious appearance.  Each chair measures 32.5" H x 32" W x 40" D. Seat 15" H.
